Dr. Sean Cole explores the glories of Calvary in the Suffering Servant song in Isaiah 52:13-53:12
This section in Isaiah is a poem composed of five stanzas, each with three lines. We see THREE prophecies concerning Jesus in this first stanza:
First, Jesus will accomplish His mission successfully.
Second, Jesus will suffer physical torture as the Messiah.
Third, Jesus’ message of forgiveness will be preached all over the world.
Are you astonished at the death, burial, and resurrection of King Jesus?
Or are you appalled at His death? Are you ambivalent about His sacrifice? Are you even antagonistic to Jesus as Lord of lords?
May you be astonished at the victory of Jesus, who died a cruel death on the cross, was buried in a tomb, rose again on the third day, ascended to heaven, and is now seated at the right hand of the Father in power and glory as our exalted King!
